Chess Sets

A pleasingly understated chess set combination made from solid woods throughout and finished beautifully. The Downhead chess men have been expertly carved from Boxwood, stained using the traditional ebonising process (to create the black pieces) then hand polished. Each piece is single weighted and felted on its base.
The board is solid wooden, carved from Rosewood and maple. Each square is a solid piece of wood that has been inlaid into the board.Lacquer has been applied and polished to a soft sheen that brings out the highly attractive grain.
