Staunton styling with a twist. The Blackmore series Sheesham (Golden Rosewood) Chessmen have wide bases, geometric shanks and quite a unique looking Rook. Made from graded hardwoods, weighted and flocked on their bases, these pieces will compliment either a solid sheesham or veneer walnut board of 23 inches and above. The downhead series represents our entry level Staunton chess pieces. These lovely chess pieces are single weighted and generously felted on their bases. They are all ‘one piece’ carvings using a design that is not only great to look at but equally practical to play chess with. These pieces have been fashioned from ebonized Boxwood and boxwood. These chess pieces represent superb value for money. They are crafted and finished in the same factory as some of the worlds finest chess men. These chess men will sit perfectly on any of our 15 or 16 inch chess boards. The same design of chess pieces are also available from us in larger sizes of 3 inches and 3.25 inches.

The new Cossack Series Red Sandalwood and Boxwood luxury chess pieces are large in size and weight yet beautifully crafted, finished and polished. They are the tallest chessmen in our range with the king reaching a lofty 6 inches. In addition they are our heaviest pieces with the Red Sandalwood king a heafty 162 grammes. The design is based on the classic Staunton look with a sight departure most noted in the finial design of the king. Despite their large height, the collection has a slender form thus allowing them to be placed on a 23 Inch playing board with grace. A bold and impressive collection of pieces that will provide years of chess playing pleasure.
