The large Atlantic series chess men represents a highly attractive interpretation of the classic Staunton design that we all know and love. These chess men have been expertly carved and polished by some of the worlds most experienced and talented chess carvers. The white pieces are fashioned in boxwood, the mainstay of all fine chess pieces. In opposition are sixteen chess men carved in fine rosewood. These have a deep red/brown colour to them and can be expected to darken naturally in future years and decades. These chess men are double weighted and felted on their bases.The knights have small neat ears and a toothy smile, their character is abundant while retaining a solid carving that can endure many games of chess. While these pieces do represent a highly sophisticated addition to your dresser or display cabinet they are also a pleasure to play chess with and will endure plenty of lengthy games. These fine chess pieces have been finished with a fine hand polish, a time consuming process that results in a lacquer free natural shine to the fine wood. These chess men will sit perfectly on a chess board with a square size of 2.25 inches or greater. Our 23 inch chess boards will compliment this set perfectly.
