The large Atlantic series chess men represents a highly attractive interpretation of the classic Staunton design that we all know and love. These chess men have been expertly carved and polished by some of the worlds most experienced and talented chess carvers. The white pieces are fashioned in boxwood, the mainstay of all fine chess pieces. In opposition are sixteen chess men carved in fine rosewood. These have a deep red/brown colour to them and can be expected to darken naturally in future years and decades. These chess men are double weighted and felted on their bases.The knights have small neat ears and a toothy smile, their character is abundant while retaining a solid carving that can endure many games of chess. While these pieces do represent a highly sophisticated addition to your dresser or display cabinet they are also a pleasure to play chess with and will endure plenty of lengthy games. These fine chess pieces have been finished with a fine hand polish, a time consuming process that results in a lacquer free natural shine to the fine wood. These chess men will sit perfectly on a chess board with a square size of 2.25 inches or greater. Our 23 inch chess boards will compliment this set perfectly. The Atlantic series Staunton chess pieces take on a contemporary modern feel with this black and natural lacquered version. All of the pieces are turned from high grade boxwood, the black pieces are finished in a black lacquer that has been polished to a deep shine. In order to preserve a continuity within the set the white pieces are also gloss lacquered with a polished clear coat. These fine chess pieces are double weighted and generously felted on their bases. The gloss lacquering doesn’t take away any of the fine detailing of the pieces and the extremes in tone gives excellent contrast on the chess board. The knight is robust enough to endure many years in the battle field while retaining some of his goofy character and presence. The neat ‘tucked in’ ears allow for plenty of chess playing without fear of damaging it’s ornamental appeal. As with all Staunton sets we sell the proportions of the pieces are all in perfect harmony with each other. Setting up the pieces on the board demonstrates just how perfectly sized each one is in relation to it’s neighbor.These chess men will sit perfectly on a chess board with a square size of two inches or greater. At 3.25 inches high these Staunton chess men represent the tallest of our down head range. Crafted from selected boxwood and Golden Rosewood this set is of remarkable quality and detail for the price. All of the pieces are of ‘one piece’ construction and are single weighted with generous felting on their bases. Despite their modest price these pieces are crafted and finished to an excellent standard. Each piece has been hand polished to a medium gloss finish which is attractive and very enduring. These pieces have been designed with chess playing in mind and they will happily withstand many years of use. The natural finish will age beautifully in years to come, a sign of the excellent quality hard woods that have been used to make them. These chess men will sit perfectly on any of our 15, 16 or 18 inch chess boards. They are also available in smaller sizes of 3.00 inches and 2.5 inches.

They are all ‘one piece’ carvings using a design that is not only great to look at but equally practical to play chess with. These pieces have been fashioned from Golden Rosewood and boxwood. These chess pieces represent superb value for money. They are crafted and finished in the same factory as some of the worlds finest chess men. The chess pieces are finished in natural wood with extensive hand polishing that produces the best possible finish.These chess men will sit perfectly on any of our 15 or 16 inch chess boards. The same design of chess pieces are also available from us in larger sizes of 3 inches and 3.25 inches.

Quality Pinewood chess piece cabinet. Hinged lid with plush green flocking inside to protect the pieces. Includes a flocked partition to separate the black and white pieces. This cabinet is suitable for standard base pieces up to 2.5 inches in height. Larger sizes can be accommodated but will require placing pieces on top of each other
